Childbirth, Newborn Care & Breastfeeding

 

The first part of the class will focus on the childbirth process:

 

  • Signs of labor and when to go to the hospital

  • Labor process and coping skills such as Lamaze breathing and relaxation techniques

  • Pain medication options

  • Cesarean section

  • Inductions and possible other interventions

  • What to expect post-delivery

 

The second half of this class will prepare you to care for your newborn at home and cover realistic expectations of the postpartum time period:

 

  • Diapering

  • Umbilical cord care

  • Bathing

  • Breast & bottle feeding

  • Sleeping recommendations

  • How to hold a baby

  • Soothing a crying baby

  • Normal newborn appearance

  • Physical recovery for moms

  • Emotions

  • What your new life will be like

 

   Our goal is to leave you feeling assured and confident in your role as a new parent. 

In-person Class Details

  • Ideal for couples to attend between 28-36 weeks of pregnancy - register early as classes fill up quickly

  • Class sizes are typically 10 -14 couples

  • This is a six hour class, with a one hour lunch break

  • When registering, please select Quantity ‘1’ per couple

Online Class Details

  • Our online class curriculum includes all of the same great information as our in-person classes, taught by medical professionals

  • Ideal for couples to attend between 28-36 weeks of pregnancy - register early as classes fill up quickly

  • This is a 4 1/2 hour class, with short breaks each hour

  • When registering, please select Quantity ‘1’ per couple
